Birthday Boy Turns 6!

I made cupcakes for his kindergarten class and took them to the school during snack time.
He really liked his motocycle transformer and his new t-shirt!

It was a beautiful day for Nov. 21st, with a high temperature around 60 degrees, so we took our birthday boy to his favorite theme park.  He rode his first big roller coaster with his dad and LOVED it!

Riding the train around the park to view all the beautiful Christmas lights.

After our visit to the theme park, we stopped by Granny Sue's house to enjoy a yummy birthday cake & presents!  Granny Sue treated us to a feast of our 6-yr old's choosing ~ pigs in a blanket & raman noodles!

cute family. they are getting so BIG! how long has it been? 3 years?

as far as the hunger games series, while i LOVED it, i still think there are a few things you need to talk to "oakley"(haha) about. in short, there is a LOT of death and killing in these books. LOTS. i was sad when the the so-called bad guys got hurt. the author's target audience was young adults. there is no bad language, there are TONS of things that can be discussed in depth, lots of political commentary and all that. as i recall, oakley was quite advanced in his comprehension. that's not my cause for concern, more the fact that these are teenagers being forced to kill other teenagers for an audience's enjoyment and to be used as pawns in the government's oppression. very deep stuff. i just offer you caution. there, i feel better.
